Ultraviolet
Right now, it’s estimated that about 90% of ALL deepfakes online are sexual, and that 90% of those sexual deepfakes are of women and girls. We are in an all-out epidemic of artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled sexual violence that has only gotten worse in recent weeks due to the “mass undressing spree” that unfolded on the social media platform X via the company’s embedded chatbot Grok.
Every single day, women and girls are bearing the brunt of this abuse, and companies like Google, Apple, and xAI are fueling the violence while profiting off our pain. This abuse looks like at least tens of thousands of real people, including children, being artificially stripped down to bikinis and undergarments. It also looks like people using AI to artificially remove hijabs and head coverings in order to humiliate and sexualize individuals.
We know this problem is massive, but it’s hard to understand the true scale of the problem without collecting information directly from survivors of deepfake abuse, as well as people who have witnessed this abuse online. Together, we have an important story to tell. We also want to give space for people to share their stories so that we can begin to process and heal as a collective. That’s why we’ve created this form: to collect testimonials. Please note that you have the option to submit stories anonymously and all submissions are secure.
Whether you are a survivor or an ally, we want to express our sincerest thanks for sharing your testimonies regarding deepfake abuse. Together, we are making a real impact in the fight against this form of insidious online abuse. We hope you will consider sharing this form with your community.
