Since our founding 14 years ago, the UltraViolet community has always fought for and alongside survivors. We know how widespread sexual abuse and rape culture are, and that the survivors who break through the silence and face the stigma to courageously share their stories are often met with disbelief and hostility. It's devastating.
That's why it's so important we publicly support survivors who share their stories. Right now, R&B artist Cassie Ventura is doing just that, and deserves our support. Even though Cassie is eight months pregnant, she has appeared in a very public trial and endured days of reliving her trauma through graphic videos and photographs, recounting abuse she suffered over a decade at the hands of music mogul Sean "Diddy" Combs. To make matters worse, Diddy's supporters have shown up in droves both at the courthouse and online, full-on trolling anyone who's not with Diddy, and harassing Cassie and anyone showing her support.
WE support her. This abuse must stop, and we must tell the truth loud and clear: Diddy is an abuser and Cassie is a courageous survivor who speaks for all of us, including the majority of survivors who will never receive justice. Will you take a moment and write a short letter in support of her courage and perseverance?
