Tell advertisers to stop supporting Spotify!
Tell corporate CEOs: Stop advertising on Spotify as long as it lets "The Joe Rogan Experience" spread COVID-19 mis- and disinformation!
Zoom, Tushy, Athletic Greens, MasterClass, Reebok, McDonald's, Jose Cuervo, Coca-Cola, GAP, Old Navy, Fiat, Taco Bell, LinkedIn, Two Men and a Truck, Condé Nast, Yahoo, and Pepsi all spend big bucks advertising on Spotify -- home of Joe Rogan.
Why is this important?
The CEO of Spotify has released a statement declaring that the corporation was “protecting free speech” by keeping the "Joe Rogan Experience" on the air--despite its own rules against COVID-19 misinformation.
Rogan aired a so-called “apology video” on Instagram that instead defended how he hosted a slew of anti-vaccination, anti-science guests to share misinformation to his 11 million listeners.
The more mis- and disinformation is shared and believed, the longer the pandemic will drag on. And the pandemic is hitting women of color the hardest. Black women are suffering more job losses than their white counterparts, and they are more likely to be hospitalized due to the coronavirus.
Spotify relies on advertising dollars, and we need to hold these advertisers accountable. Tushy, Zoom, MasterClass, Athletic Greens, and more spend big money on Spotify, and it would make a huge impact if they pulled their business. We need to let these companies know that our support depends on it.
