Tell the Museum of Modern Art: Cut all ties with Leon Black
The petition to the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) Director Christophe Cherix, the Board of Trustees and all MoMA leaders reads:
Leon Black's name appears more than 8,500 times in the released files related to pedophile Jeffrey Epstein's criminal ring that abused over 1,000 women--many of whom were children at the time. Black has also been credibly accused by several women of sexual assault, including rape. It's long past time for the MoMA to remove Black from the Board of Trustees and cut all ties with him.
Art is about world-building, and a credibly accused sexual predator has no business being one of our culture's lead architects. Stop helping to sanitize Black's reputation by giving him influence, power and prestige as a trustee.
As women, survivors, parents and art lovers, we urge you to remove Black from your board and sever all ties with him.
Why is this petition important?
Millions of women, survivors, parents and schoolchildren from around the world visit the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York City to learn about art, beauty, and whose stories matter. What art lovers may not know is that this world-famous museum is helping to sanitize the reputation of a credibly accused sexual predator.
Former chair and current member of the MoMA's Board of Trustees, Leon Black, has been credibly accused of sexual assault, including rape, by several women he met through the late serial pedophile Jeffrey Epstein. His name appears more than 8,500 times in the released Epstein files. In addition to being an accused abuser himself, he's also suspected of having played a substantial role in funding Epstein's disgusting sex trafficking operation.
Art is about world-building and telling our collective human story. A credibly accused sexual predator, whose name appears more than 8,500 times in the released Epstein files, has no business shaping our culture.
For nearly 30 years, MoMA has given Leon Black influence, power and prestige. Today, his name remains on the Family Film Center inside the museum, visited by thousands of people every day. It's time for MoMA to remove Leon Black from the board and cut all ties with him.
