Tell Gov. Newsom: Protect access to medication abortion. Sign AB 260.

The petition to California Gov. Gavin Newsom reads:

Sign AB 260 into law to ensure that Californians can access reproductive healthcare, and that physicians can provide reproductive health care safely. This important bill would allow California pharmacists to prescribe medication abortion without putting the name of the patient, provider or pharmacy on the prescription label, subject to specified requirements. This is a crucial safety precaution to protect patient privacy as federal restrictions on reproductive healthcare and the criminalization of patients and providers nationwide increase. California must stand firm and continue to be a safe haven for women and pregnant people to access healthcare. I urge you to sign AB 260 into law immediately.

One signature from Gov. Gavin Newsom would protect abortion access for millions.

Thousands of UltraViolet members in California signed a petition urging state lawmakers to pass a package of bills that would expand and protect access to reproductive and gender affirming care. Now, one of those bills is on Gov. Newsom’s desk, and we need your help with the final push to make it law.

AB 260 would allow pharmacists to dispense mifepristone and other drugs used for medication abortion without putting the names of the patient, provider or pharmacy on the prescription label. If signed into law, AB 260 would:

    • Strengthen patient and provider privacy in California.
    • Protect access to medication abortion for the millions of people across the country who now rely on California doctors for reproductive health care via telehealth.

Sign to tell Gov. Newsom to make AB 260 law and protect access to medication abortion in California and across the U.S.
