We need $15!
Tell the Biden administration:
Do everything you can to pass a $15 minimum wage!
Why is this important?
For twelve years, the minimum wage in the United States has stagnated at $7.25 per hour, and the tipped minimum wage for restaurant workers remained an astonishingly low $2.13 per hour. Nearly two-thirds of people making minimum wage are women, and a majority are women of color and single parents. This is simply outrageous--no one should be working for poverty wages in the richest nation in the world!
Mothers of color have borne the brunt of the COVID-19 pandemic, with staggeringly low wages compounding the problem. Passing a $15 minimum wage would have a huge impact, lifting pay for 32 million workers, nearly a quarter of whom are Black and Latina mothers. As a result, they will be able to afford safer housing, nutritious food, medicine, and other essentials.
The Biden administration and Congress have an opportunity to lift millions of women out of poverty, by raising the minimum wage to $15 an hour by 2025. They can and they must do everything in their power to prioritize raising the minimum wage in the COVID relief package and recovery efforts.
Will you join us in calling on the administration to work with congressional leaders to craft a clear plan for passing a $15 minimum wage now?
