Demand Congress Investigate Delaney Hall

The petition to Congress including Members of the House Oversight Committee reads:

We demand that you visit Delaney Hall, the GEO Group-run ICE detention facility in Newark, New Jersey, and launch a formal investigation into allegations of abuse and inhumane conditions there. Detainees — including pregnant women, mothers, and survivors of domestic violence — have been on hunger strike since May 22, 2026, protesting medical neglect, spoiled food, and violent retaliation for organizing. You have the power and the constitutional responsibility to investigate. Do your job: go to Delaney Hall, demand answers and stop the abuse.

Right now, hundreds of immigrants — including pregnant women, mothers, and survivors of domestic violence — are locked inside a New Jersey Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) prison. They're on hunger strike. And the Trump administration is doing everything it can to make sure you don't find out why.

Since May 22, an estimated 300 detainees at Delaney Hall, a privately-run ICE detention center in Newark, NJ, have been on a hunger and labor strike in protest of the prison's inhumane conditions.¹ In letters describing life inside, detainees report being fed small portions of food that are frequently spoiled — including meals with live worms — having urgent medical needs ignored, and facing violent retaliation, including pepper spray and physical force, for organizing.^2,3

The abuse and medical neglect at Delaney Hall isare hitting women especially hard. After touring the facility, Rep. Jerry Nadler reported that one woman detained at Delaney Hall had a lump in her breast but had been waiting over a month with no mammogram.⁴ The ACLU of New Jersey says it has received "horror stories" from detainees — including pregnant women — who are not getting proper medical care for their health conditions.⁵ This is not an anomaly.

Tell House Oversight Committee members: Visit Delaney Hall. Launch an investigation. Stop the abuse.
