Tell Your Governor: Fight Back for Our Kids!

The petition to your governor reads:

Donald Trump is a bully. Protect our kids--all our kids, including trans children--from Trump’s relentless attacks and bullying. Protect your constituents from funding freezes, indiscriminate layoffs, and dangerous culture war antics that encourage adults to target, harass, and victimize children.

During a televised press conference, Donald Trump tried to bully Maine Governor Janet Mills into erasing trans kids from school sports. When Gov. Mills refused to follow Trump’s illegal executive order, which violates the Maine Human Rights Act, Trump retaliated by freezing federal funds for Maine’s universal school lunch program, punishing nearly 170,000 children who benefit from free school meals, all because Gov. Mills failed to comply.

Trump’s vengeful actions make it clear that he doesn’t actually care about kids; he cares about power, which he gains by scapegoating others--even children.

In response, Maine Attorney General Aaron Frey filed a lawsuit against the USDA to unfreeze the federal funds, and after a federal court issued a ruling in favor of Maine, the USDA settled the lawsuit and resumed federal funding to feed Maine’s kids.

Maine has two trans athletes competing in school sports. TWO. But Trump and his anti-trans MAGA regime are willing to cut off school lunches for nearly 170,000 children to erase trans girls from school sports.
