Rep. Paul Gosar must be expelled from Twitter
Tell Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey:
Ban Rep. Paul Gosar from your platform!
Why is this important?
In many workplaces, a person posting content threatening the life of a coworker would warrant immediate termination, if not a call to the police.
Not in Congress. On Sunday, Rep. Paul Gosar posted a video on Twitter showing him murdering Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. And so far, he has gotten away with it unpunished.
Rep. Gosar should not be able to remain on Twitter after his threatening tweet.
The altered anime video which Rep. Gosar posted on both his personal and official accounts shows him brandishing two swords at President Biden and stabbing Rep. Ocasio-Cortez.
Despite the fact that the tweet violated Twitter’s “hateful conduct” rule, the platform refused to take it down, instead saying it was in the “public interest “ to keep it live.
Rep. Gosar is already known for retweeting neo-Nazis, downplaying January 6 insurrection violence, and spreading lies and misinformation through his social media megaphone. He is strongly connected to white supremacists, elevating the danger of this sort of post to Rep. Ocasio-Cortez as a woman of color.
Rep. Ocasio-Cortez should not be expected to work alongside a colleague who has glorified her murder, and Twitter should not be allowing this horrific video to proliferate through the Internet.
Public pressure has led to the suspension or bans of neo-Nazis like Gavin McCinnes and Milo Yannapolis and instigators of violence like Donald Trump and Marjorie Taylor Greene. Rep. Gosar should be subject to the same.
