    Survivors deserve all the flowers

    Survivors deserve all the flowers

    The pledge reads:

    I believe survivors, and I commit to using my power to end gender-based violence in all its forms.

    In the United States, women experience sexual violence at an alarming rate. In fact, 1 in 6 have survived rape.1 And nearly 50% of transgender women have been sexually assaulted.2

    At UltraViolet, we're fighting for a country without sexual violence, where our culture no longer rewards, tolerates, or enables abusers, and where survivors are believed, supported, and exonerated of all blame, shame, and stigma, regardless of the circumstances of their abuse.

    UltraViolet and our online community of 1 million members have held accountable alleged and convicted abusers, including former Fox News anchor Bill O'Reilly, recording artist R. Kelly, and many others.3, 4 Together, we also created the conditions through the powerful #MeToo movement for survivors to tell their stories, support each other, and advance policies that help them seek justice.5

    Fast forward to today, and we're now living in the backlash of all the progress that we've made. Alleged and convicted abusers are occupying and running for the highest levels of government.6 And celebrities are filing defamation lawsuits against their accusers that could undermine state protections for all survivors.7 Now more than ever, we need to flood survivors with messages of support and reaffirm our commitment to backing them in this hostile political and cultural environment.

    Can you take the first step? Sign our pledge to show survivors that you believe them--and that you will fight to end gender-based violence in all of its forms.

    By joining our fight, you'll get alerts to take action on campaigns that:

    • Advance state policies to protect survivors from defamation lawsuits;
    • Stop corporations from enabling, promoting, and profiting from convicted abusers;
    • Push institutions to adopt stronger workplace policies that prevent sexual harassment and abuse; and more.

    Join us in sending a clear message to survivors in New York and across the country: We see you. We believe you. We will fight alongside you. You deserve all the flowers.
