Facebook: Shut down white supremacist misogynists
Tell Facebook:
Block hate group disinformation and recruitment
Why is this important?
White supremacist misogynists are celebrating big this week.
On Tuesday night, the President of the United States refused to condemn white vigilante violence. Instead, Trump told the Proud Boys—an anti-woman, "male-only" white supremacist group—to “stand by.” The moderator allowed him to use abusive language and racial slurs and spread racist disinformation on national TV.
For years, Facebook has enabled the viral spread of white misogynist hate, and it's only growing. Even while millions of us expressed outrage over Trump's debate show, pro-Trump voices made up nine out of ten of the most popular posts on Facebook afterward.
Facebook executives admit that the platform is designed to favor rightwing extremism and inflammatory content. That's how Facebook helps white supremacists spread conspiracy theories into the mainstream and recruit new members.
And while Facebook executives profit from growing hate under Trump's presidency, Black, Indigenous, and women of color are left facing increasing violence online and offline, unemployment, and COVID-19.
Trump is counting on Facebook and white supremacists to keep spreading fear and violence before, during, and after the election. The election is just days away - will you take action today?
