Tell the Senate: Pass the Equality Act
Tell the Senate:
Pass the Equality Act
Why is this important?
No kid should ever be excluded from playing sports or denied gender-affirming health care they need just for being themselves. But legislatures in over 30 states are trying to do just that--attacking trans kids for being who they are, openly. These abhorrent attacks can’t stand. We must send a clear signal that it’s unacceptable to attack and discriminate against anyone in the LGBTQ community, especially trans kids.
That’s why we need to pass the Equality Act--NOW! The U.S. House has already passed this vital piece of legislation with bipartisan support, and now it’s up to the U.S. Senate to pass it. President Joe Biden has already promised to sign it into law, so the time is now to let our senators know that we’re counting on them to do the right thing, without delay.
Passing the Equality Act alone won’t stop the deluge of attacks the right is hurling at trans kids, but it’ll send a clear message to transphobic state legislators that this is unacceptable. The Equality Act would protect transgender and nonbinary students from pervasive misgendering and harassment--it will literally be lifesaving. The Equality Act goes beyond updating federal civil rights protections for LGBTQ people, it also expands protections for women, people of faith, and people of color.
We need a national solution to protect trans kids, ensure their safety, and honor their right to pursue happiness. One big part of the solution is the Equality Act. Momentum is building, but we need your help to make this act a reality.
