Trump promised he would leave alone protections former President Obama put in place for immigrants who came here as children. But then two months ago, he condemned 800,000 children and young people to deportation.
Now, something amazing is happening: Not only are Democrats fighting back en masse--a broad coalition of them is threatening to block a budget vote and force the government to shut down unless a bill protecting these young people is passed before the end of the year. And a lot of Republicans are actually on board with working with them.
But anti-immigrant, pro-Trump Republicans could derail negotiations, so we have to show these Democrats and Republicans working together that we'll support them if they go to the mat for "Dreamers"--young people who came to the U.S. as infants and children. That's why we're joining the Women's March, United We Dream, MPower Change, and many more powerful immigrant and progressive friends to push Congress to pass a bill before the end of the year.
We have less than a month. The lives of 800,000 young people, their family and friends, are depending on powerful voices like yours. Will you sign the petition demanding Congress protect immigrants now?
