Big Tech Must Stop Bad Actors & Hate From Thriving Online

We’re demanding Big Tech platforms take serious action to ban bad actors AND prevent the spread of hateful content online.

    Why is this important?

Deplatforming bad actors is an important first move, but we know that simply removing one popular misogynist doesn't stop that person's message of hate, disinformation, sexism, and anti-Black rhetoric from thriving online. We need social media companies to create meaningful change to deplatform bad actors AND remove hateful content online.

Fan accounts, or social media accounts devoted to influencers but owned and maintained by fans, are making it possible for bad actors like Andrew Tate, a self-described misogynist, to maintain and abuse their power as influencers and continue sharing their insidious and hateful messages even after their personal accounts have been banned.

When thousands of us have spoken out in the past, we've secured real victories; the platforms need to hear from us now. UltraViolet and our partners are demanding real action--which means not just banning bad actors and their associates, but better enforcement and expansion of hate and harassment policies. Sign the petition demanding that social media platforms halt hate speech that can lead to interpersonal violence!

Without meaningful changes, simply deplatforming dangerous voices won't truly end the problem of hateful rhetoric thriving online and causing in-person violence like the January 6 insurrection.

We're done with letting platforms tiptoe around a problem they know how to solve! Sign on and demand Big Tech deplatform AND remove all hateful content.
