Have you heard what happened to Chikesia Clemons last weekend? Violence against Black women often doesn't get the coverage it deserves, so it's especially important that everyone sees this story.
Clemons was eating with friends at a restaurant in Saraland, Alabama. When told they would be charged extra for disposable silverware to go with their leftovers, they requested to talk to a manager--in response, the restaurant called the police on Clemons and her friends.
When the police officers arrived, they violently threw Clemons to the ground, exposing her breasts and threatening to break her arm. That's where the story may have ended, but one of Clemons' friends got the whole thing on video and it's gone viral.
This brutality against a Black woman has already sparked a sit-in protest at the restaurant, as well as condemnation from the NAACP and celebrities like Chance the Rapper. While the officers get away with abuse, Clemons is being charged for being brutalized. If we help the outrage reach a fever pitch, we can push the Saraland Police to drop the charges against Chikesia Clemons
