The petition to Revlon CEO Michelle Peluso, Vice President of Marketing (Fragrances) Terri Lin, and the Revlon media team reads:
Revlon relies on women consumers to exist. In fact, your brand was built on our backs. As a community of women and allies, we are deeply disappointed that Revlon currently sponsors the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), a rotten institution whose leadership and fighters regularly spew racist, misogynistic, and even pro-Nazi propaganda. Most recently, UFC fighter Josh Hokit repeated a racist and transphobic lie about First Lady Michelle Obama from the White House lawn that was broadcast to millions of people. The UFC could have edited the footage, but it chose to air it instead. That's the kind of hate Revlon is supporting by continuing to sponsor the UFC. And this is just the tip of the iceberg of the disrespect women leaders--and women in general--receive from the UFC, including from its leadership, roster, and investors. Please restore the values Revlon was originally founded on and cut all ties with the UFC immediately!
Revlon built its $2 billion beauty empire through women's loyalty and purchasing power. But in 2024, it became the official fragrance sponsor of the UFC, one of the most misogynistic institutions in the country.
While it's true Revlon was delisted from the NASDAQ in May 2023, following its filing Chapter 11 bankruptcy, we can't help but wonder why on earth it would choose to invest its precious dollars to sponsor the UFC. The decision to align the company with the UFC's misogynistic brand is a betrayal of Revlon's founding principles and its majority women customer base. It also smells a lot like desperation.
Revlon took a risk by sponsoring the UFC. We need to let them know that women are watching, and that their gamble won't pay off in the long run. Throwing its largest customer base under the bus is bad for business.
