Tell CNN: Fire CEO Chris Licht!
The petition to CNN reads:
Fire CEO Chris Licht! Licht called his decision to hold the Trump town hall "mission accomplished." The town hall was a disaster and Licht has no business leading a credible news network such as CNN.
Why is this important?
The CNN Trump town hall last week was a complete disaster. A petulant Trump talked over the moderator with his lies about abortion and 2020 election rigging. He hurled personal insults at E. Jean Carroll--who successfully sued him for sexual assault and defamation--while his MAGA Republican crowd cheered.
The day after, CNN CEO Chris Licht defended the town hall saying, "I absolutely, unequivocally believe America was served very well by what we did last night." This is beyond unacceptable.
What we saw on CNN last week was not serious political discourse or journalism. If anything, it showed us just how low Licht is willing to go to boost CNN's ratings. As a leader with a powerful platform on CNN, Licht had a responsibility to his viewers to either not hold this town hall or label it for what it really was: money-making entertainment of the fictional variety.
