Hi. My name is [YOUR NAME], and I live in [YOUR CITY]. I'm calling to urge [YOUR HOUSE REPRESENTATIVE] to support the DEFIANCE Act. This bill would finally give survivors of deepfake abuse a path to justice.
I was thrilled to hear the news that the Senate voted unanimously to pass the DEFIANCE Act a few weeks ago. Now, it is time for House leadership to step up and follow the Senate’s lead.
I’m extremely concerned about the rise of sexual deepfakes, especially given the horrors we witnessed at the beginning of this year when Grok was used to create deepfakes of an estimated 3 million people and 23,000 children.
Digital violence IS sexual violence, not to mention that child sexual abuse material (CSAM) is illegal. Survivors as young as 11 are being targeted and anyone with a public online image can be victimized without recourse. Passing legislation to give victims a federal civil right of action is long overdue and, at this point, absolutely critical for public safety.
That’s why I’m calling on [YOUR HOUSE REPRESENTATIVE] to vote yes on DEFIANCE and do everything in your power to convince your fellow representatives–especially Judiciary Republicans–to vote yes, too.
The public is watching, and knows that this is the second time DEFIANCE has gone to the House after passing the Senate. Women and girls are experiencing an all-out deepfake epidemic, and we expect nothing short of a yes vote.

A few weeks ago, the Senate voted unanimously to pass the DEFIANCE Act, a bipartisan bill aimed at combating deepfake abuse. Now, we need to do everything in our power to make sure it gets through the House.
Collectively, we have already delivered over 6,000 letters to House members demanding that they pass DEFIANCE. Now, we are ratcheting up the pressure by directing calls to the 25 Republicans on the House Judiciary Committee. Please take a moment to make your call now!
DEFIANCE would finally establish a civil right of action for victims of AI-generated explicit images and videos (also known as deepfake pornography) to seek justice against those who create, share, publish, or solicit the harmful material. But this will only happen if we can get the bill through the House–which we weren’t able to achieve last year.
This year is different. In fact, a vote on this bill could not come at a more crucial moment. From late December to mid-January, Elon Musk’s Grok AI went on a mass undressing spree, generating an estimated 3 million sexualized images of real people, including minors, without their consent. This was arguably the largest wave of mass sexual abuse in history.
