Sign the letter: Judge Mark Fuller should resign for his Domestic Violence

To: Eleventh U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals Judge Gerald Tjoflat, Chair of Committee investigating Federal Judge Mark Fuller
Dear Honorable Judge Gerald Tjoflat,

After his arrest for domestic violence, Federal Judge Mark Fuller simply cannot remain on the bench as a Federal Judge for the United States Middle District of Alabama. He has betrayed the trust of the public, set an extremely poor example, and will continue to undermine the faith of the American people in our justice system so long as he remains a Federal Judge.

Domestic violence is an epidemic. In Alabama last year alone, there were over 35,000 incidents of domestic abuse reported. When a public official, whose job it is to deliver justice, is responsible for perpetrating such a horrific crime, and yet can keep his position of power, it sends the wrong message. Worse yet, for survivors of domestic violence to appear before him in court, knowing he has essentially gotten away with the crime, would be a perversion of justice. We simply cannot have a judicial system where abusers judge abusers, or the concept of abuse in a constitutional question.

It is in the best interest of not only the people in Alabama, but for the entire country, that your council recommend that Mark Fuller resign or be impeached for his history of abuse and most recent arrest for assault.

Signed,

Since more than 50,000 UltraViolet members called for the resignation of Federal Judge Mark Fuller over his arrest for domestic violence, Alabama's biggest newspapers and even Alabama's conservative Senators have spoken out against him.

And now, a special council of federal judges is investigating Fuller's case and will report whether he should be disciplined further. This council's findings may even be used by a judicial council that would recommend to the U.S. House of Representatives that Mark Fuller be impeached.

These types of special councils are not convened often. When they do come together, they consider public comment in making a recommendation. That's why it's so important that this council hears directly from us that because of his arrest for domestic violence, Mark Fuller simply cannot remain on the federal bench.
