This week, Charleena Lyles, a pregnant mother of four, was murdered by police in her Seattle home.
Lyles called to report a burglary. According to the police department's own recording, the two officers who showed up were already aware of Lyle's history of mental health issues, but took no steps to deescalate before using lethal force against a 90-pound pregnant woman. Three of her four children were in the apartment when she was shot.
Since Sunday, hundreds have taken to the streets in Seattle and marched to demand justice for Lyles. Now, we need to make sure a national spotlight stays on the Seattle Police Department until there is accountability.
That's why UltraViolet members are joining with Color of Change and Not This Time to demand justice--the officers involved should be indicted and an independent investigation into the Seattle police force needs to be launched immediately. Will you add your name?
