Jim Jordan, rape apologist, should not be Speaker of the House

Seven former student athletes have accused a high-profile Republican congressman, Jim Jordan, of deliberately ignoring serial rape and molestation by their team doctor at Ohio State, where Jordan was an assistant wrestling coach.

Not only is Jim Jordan running for re-election, he's running to be the Speaker of the House of Representatives if Republicans retain control of it. That would put Jordan in the most powerful position in the country after the President.

Ongoing investigations are revealing a horrific set of facts Jim Jordan had to have known about--specifically that Dr. Richard Strauss, while team doctor at Ohio State, sexually assaulted an unknown number of students in his care from the 1970s to the 1990s. Strauss died in 2005, but the demand for accountability has only begun.

A rape apologist doesn't belong in Congress, much less as the second most powerful person in the country. So far, House Republicans are hoping this will blow over while the public is focused elsewhere--we can't let that happen. Will you sign a petition today demanding Republican leadership denounce Rep. Jordan's bid for Speaker of the House and demand he resign from office immediately?
