Tell Gov. Haslam: Pardon Cyntoia Brown

Tell Gov. Haslam: Pardon Cyntoia Brown

    Not ? Click here.

When Cyntoia Brown was a teenager, she was sex trafficked by her abuser. At only 16 years old, a 43-year-old man took her to his house, showed her his gun collection, and grabbed her violently. She feared for her life and shot him. She was then tried as an adult and sentenced to life in prison.

That Cyntoia was ever convicted for this act of self defense is a travesty. Now, Cyntoia is back in the headlines after the Tennessee Supreme Court declared that, after 14 years in prison, she must serve 51 years before being eligible for parole.

Thousands of people, including celebrities like Rihanna and LeBron James, have joined Cyntoia's fight and are pressuring Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam to pardon her. He is seriously considering it, but he only has about two weeks to decide. If we join in now, we can push Governor Haslam to free Cyntoia and set a clear precedent that this should never happen to survivors.

Can you make a call right now? Cyntoia's freedom depends on it.
