Time to investigate Trump for sexual assault

UPDATE: A lawsuit that could finally be our chance to bring down Trump for serial sexual harassment and assault is moving forward.

A former "Apprentice" contestant, Summer Zervos, sued Trump for defamation because he called her a liar after she revealed Trump forcibly groped and kissed her. Then yesterday, a New York judge ruled that Trump can't claim immunity from the lawsuit--it can and will go forward. Trump may even have to testify under oath about his history of abusing women.

Over 70,000 UltraViolet members have called on Congress to do its own investigation into the assault and harassment allegations against Trump from over 20 women. With this renewed attention on Trump's predatory past and the revelations from the lawsuit yet to come, Congress won't be able to ignore demands to hold Trump accountable.

Rep. John Conyers, Rep. Trent Franks, and Sen. Al Franken resigned following multiple accusations of sexual harassment and assault. Investigations will likely follow for other members of Congress. Now the question is, what about Trump?!

Twenty women have accused Trump of sexual harassment and/or assault. He's even on tape bragging about assaulting women. So far he's escaped without any consequences, not even a formal investigation. In this moment of intense public scrutiny around sexual misconduct, Congress must act to hold Trump accountable.

In this #MeToo moment, it's vital that we listen to women. Yet, Trump's twenty accusers have been ignored while he continues to keep the most powerful and prestigious job in the country. These women deserve justice, and an independent poll shows 70% of the public supports an investigation. Congress must investigate all accusations of sexual abuse against Trump.
