Unless we do something, a sexist federal judge is about to get away with some really disgusting commentary about women, including writing that if you're a female attorney and you wear the wrong clothes to work, you'll be labeled an "ignorant slut".

That's what Judge Richard Kopf, a senior U.S. district court judge appointed by President George Bush, just wrote about a female lawyer in an incredibly offensive blog post. He also wrote about another female lawyer: "she wears very short skirts and shows lots of her ample chest. I especially appreciate the last two attributes."

And yet, so far, he hasn't been made to face any consequences for his sexist writings. This kind of blatant sexism is absolutely unacceptable and has no place in a courtroom. Judges are supposed to be impartial in their decisions--not judge women differently from men on the basis of a bunch of outdated biases.

Judge Kopf is under fire in both the local and national press, and word of his rant is spreading like wildfire. If we all push now, while reporters are on his case, we can make sure he resigns. Can you sign the petition demanding that he resign?
