Throw a New (and Better!) Year Party

Happy New Year! Get out your party hats, tinsel, and sugary snacks: let's get ready for the challenges and opportunities of 2015 by strengthening the women's movement--party style.

On Saturday, January 24th, throw a party and be a part of UltraViolet's network of advocates. We'll debrief the struggles and successes of 2014, unwind from the holiday season, and start hatching plans for 2015.

Plus, enjoy yummy food and play fun games!

UltraViolet staff and volunteers will support you every step of the way--go on, have a party.

    Event rules

Here are the basic requirements for event hosts:

Your location should be able to host at least 15 people--it could be a local establishment like a restaurant, coffee shop, or bar (with permission), a community center, or a private home. Please make an effort to host your event at a location that is wheelchair friendly and accessible by public transit. Note in the description if your location is not wheelchair accessible.

Consider whether children are welcome at your gathering and note in the description if individuals may bring children.

You will need access to a printer to print 4-5 pages of materials.

Here are the rules for hosting events:

Keep in mind that racism, sexism, classism, heterosexism, transphobia, and other issues can easily arise at events and, as the group facilitator, an important part of your role is to address inappropriate language and behavior and actively uplift voices of often marginalized groups.

As an event organizer, you will gain access to attendees' names and phone numbers, and you may gain access to email addresses at the event. This information should only be used for UltraViolet purposes, unless you have the expressed permission from attendees to contact them for other reasons.

Next, we'll e-mail you a link to confirm your event.

Be sure to double-check the date, time, and location before you continue.
